how to know if you are a true believer!
Asalam Alahekum Waramotul Lahi Wabarakatuhu.
WHO ARE THE TRUE BELIEVERS IN ISLAM ?
According to the pillar of Islam we shall know the truth believers by their doctrine which is I TESTIFY THAT THERE IS NO DEITY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT ALLAH. They say their five daily prayers as at when deal, they give impoverish from what Allah has given them in wealth and in knowledge they reminds people for them not to be among the losers.
Almighty Allah described the believers in the Quran Chapter 3 verse 114. Allah said the believers are those who believe in Allah and the last day, and they enjoy what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.
HOW TO KNOW/ TO BE A TRUE BELIEVER?
1. A believer must believe in Almighty Allah: this connotes that every Muslim must not just testify to the oneness of Allah (SWT) but also believe in what His Power of Uniqueness, He controls everything and believe in what He has decree upon every of His servant. As Almighty Allah mentioned in Q2:255; Allah is He, beside Whom there is no god, the Everliving, Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, his knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
2. They earn their living through rightful way: for you to be among the truth believers you must adhere and dedicate your soul to the will of Allah (Islamic jurisprudents of earning for living legitimately). Believers do not involve themselves in usury (interest banking); they stay far away from duping, gambling, stealing, robbery, yahoo, money rituals and illegal transaction. Almighty Allah (SWT) says in Q2:275; Allah does not love usury, and He causes charitable deeds to prosper, and Allah does not love any ungrateful sinner. They believe that they will summon to account for their wealth in the day of reckoning. They believe that earning living through illegal sources distance their soul closer to Allah. And Allah said He is pure and He won’t accept anything from us except which that is pure. Source: Sahih Muslim.
There was a story of a traveler who lifts his hands to the sky and makes the supplication: O, Lord, O Lord! To Allah for favour and Allah did not answer his prayer, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; his prayer won’t be answered because the clothes he wore, the foods he eat and the water he drank were haram. So, how can his supplication accepted since he feeds himself with haram? (Muslim) I believed every one of us will surely rectify our sources of income and eat what are good because we all want to have mercy of our Lords when we die especially in the grave.
3. Abstain from excessive talking: Islam against verbal abuse and it’s a sin in Islam to involve in backbite and slanders. Muslim believers do not alter words that can cause emotional deregulation issues to anybody even animals or food will want to eat. Anybody that we made unhappy because of what will say to them or behind them, in the judgment day Allah will remove your goods equivalent to your sinful talks against them and give it to people you have caused sorrowed because of your words. Q2:83; …you shall not serve any but Allah and (you shall do) good to (your parents, and to the near kin and to the orphans and the needy, and you shall speak to men good words and keep up prayer and pay the poor rate. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; there are two things that are fastest to take someone to hell and it is also fastest to take someone to paradise which are; excessive talking and private part. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; whoever believes in Allah ad the last Day; let him speak well or else keep quite. Even Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; salvation in Islam is to control your tongue, keep to your house and weep over you sin. By Al-Albani. May Allah move us closer to him and soft our heart to adhere to His decree.
4. They spent their wealth in charity: Allah said O you who have believed spend from that which we have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange (i.e.. ransom)and no friendship and no intercession. And the disbelievers are the wrong doers. (Quran 2 v254). The believers are not stingy, they are very prudent and they spend their wealth as Allah instructed them. They believe their wealth is a test from Allah and they will surely accountable for how they spend it. They give to the poor, build mosque, help others to be financially independent and never discriminate in giving out their wealth except to unrighteous spend people. Everything we owns, does not take Allah a second to withdraw it from us if we failed His test.
We can remember a story of three poor men. A blind, leper and bald. They pray for Allah’s mercy and Allah sent angel to them in form of human being to ask for what they want, they asked Allah to restore their disability, and they all looked beautiful. Then, angel asked them what kind of property do you want Allah to give you, the leper said he want cow, so the leper was given a pregnant she camel, and the angel said may Allah bless you with it, the blind man asked for sheep, the angel gave him a pregnant sheep and said may Allah bless you with it. Then the angel went to the bald headed and asked him property he want he said cow, angel gave him a pregnant cow and said may Allah bless you with it.
Afterwards, all the three pregnant animals gave birth to young ones, and multiplied and brought forth so much that one of the three men had a herd of camels filling a valley, and one had a herd of cows filling a valley, and one had a flock of sheep filling a valley.
Then the angel disguised in the shape and appearance of leper, went to the leper and said; ‘I am a poor man, who has lost all means of livelihood while a journey. So, none will satisfy my need except Allah and you. In the name of Him who has given you such nice color and beautiful skin, and so much property, I asked you to give me a camel so that I may reach my destination’. The man replied; ‘I have many obligations so I cannot give you’. The angel said; ‘I think I know you; were you not a leper to whom people have a strong aversion? Weren’t you a poor man, and Allah gave you all this property?’ He replied; ‘this is wrong; ‘I got this property through inheritance from my fore fathers.’ The angel said; ‘if you are telling a lie, let Allah make you as you are before’.
Then the angel disguised in the shape and appearance of a bald man, he went to the bald man, and said to him the same as he told the leper, and he too answered the same as the leper did. The angel said; ‘if you are telling a lie let Allah make you as you are before.’
Then angel, disguised in the shape of a blind man, and said the same thing as he said to the first and second man, he was blind and Allah gave him back his eyes sight, he was poor and Allah made him rich, so take anything you wish from my property. By Allah, I will not stop you for taking anything you need of my property which you may take for Allah’s sake. The angel replied; ‘keep your property with you (i.e. the three men) have been tested and Allah is pleased with you and is angry with your two companions.( Sahih Buhari: volume 4 book 546).
4) They are patience and contended: do the people think that they will be left to say we believe and they will not be tried? We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evidence those who are truthful, and He will surely make evidence the liar (Quran 29: verse 2 & 3). When any predicament happened to them they will say indeed from Allah will come and from him we shall return.
You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah. And if you are patience and fear Allah indeed, that is one of the matters worthy of resolve. Allah tested Prophet Ayub with an acute illness and he was in it for 15 years he didn’t say ill words against Allah and he never desist from righteous path. There is ease after sorrow. Almighty Allah says in Q25:75; These shall be rewarded with high places because they were patient, and shall be met therein with greetings and salutations.
They abide by Islamic culture: the believer’s total way of life. The religion of Islam cut across every ramification human life span to make everything a worship act and rewardable if well observed. Islam talks about; dressing, approach, spouse, marriage, divorce, morals, food, earning, kinship, friendship, greetings, cleanness and pureness, spiritual, physical, and other aspects of life to the extent of the way relief to relief oneself; all comprises as the way to worship Almighty Allah (SWT) if observed properly. Islamic act is shaped by Quran and Hadith (sunnah); to enjoy what is good and forbid what is bad. Not to bring any innovation to the religious matter because any innovation is a sin and sin will lead us to hell. They torch the women they have freedom to touch as stated in the Quran, they eat foods that are allowed in Islam, they speak truth even in the present of a tyranny leader, they don’t compromise their religion and when they walk on heart they Walks like a stranger and talk in a soft tone. They are best for you as a role model. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said; ‘everyone will enter paradise except those who do not want to and they asked him who will not want to’, he said; ‘people who do not follow Quran and his practice (The Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
O you who believe, stand firm to your religion as Almighty Allah (SWT) says; Surely Allah enjoins the doing and the doing of good (to others) and the giving to the kindred, and He forbids indecency and evil and rebellion; He admonishes you that you may be mindful.
